    this is the text from chart note from the patient's in office visit: "fetal arrhythmia found on outside ultrasound this morning during her fetal anatomy scan"

    Would O76 "Abnormality in fetal heart rate & rhythm complicating labor" be an appropriate code?  The patient was not in active labor.

    I would use:  O36.83-- Maternal care for abnormalities of fetal heart rate or rhythm, xxx trimester

    For a fetal arrhythmia (eg PACs, SVT) is the only code O76 even if the patient is not in labor?

    Answer:

    ICD-10 code O36.891 - O36.899 (Maternal care for other specified fetal problems) would be used for fetal arrhythmia for patients not in labor or delivery.

    Agree with Erin & Vanita.
    Antenatally, I would use the O36.83 series (Maternal care for abnormalities of the fetal heart rate or rhythm) for fetal arrhythmia.
    O76 is specific to intrapartum fetal heart rate abnormalities.
