    We are looking to add screening fetal echocardiograms to our services.  How many minutes do you allot for each exam? Any advice on protocol development? Thanks.

    AIUM has a newly revised (2019) Fetal Echo Practice Parameter that was approved last month.  It is a multi-society collaborative document that included many of our colleagues at SMFM and ISUOG.

    I don't see it uploaded on the AIUM website yet but I suspect if you call or e-mail the Accreditation department, you will be able to obtain a copy.

    I do 30 minutes for just a fetal ECHO and 45 mins if abnormal findings. This is in addition to the anatomy scan.

    We allocate 60 minutes for screening fetal echo; 90 minutes if referred for suspected cardiac anomaly.

    We allocate 45 minutes for screening fetal echocardiograms at our center. Our protocol is based on AIUM Guidelines. I can send you an example checklist if you would like.
