COVID-19 Updates

  • 1.  "Non-essential" ultrasounds

    Posted 03-16-2020 21:49

We're here in Hawaii trying to decide what would be considered "unessential" as we triage
pregnant women coming in for prenatal ultrasound.  I would be curious as to what everyone is doing on the Mainland for "social distancing."

I think most of us would agree to do NT scans and fetal anatomy scans (maybe)?
But what about follow up scans for "suboptimal imaging"?
    Serial transvaginal cervical length screening?
    Serial growth scans?
    Follow-up pyelectasis?
    Follow-up fetal anomaly?
    Etc.

Please share any triage plans that your unit is using for OB ultrasound patients.

    Thank you!

We are following our institutional  Policy for Covid19 screening at check in and limited to patient plus one.

We are continuing to see patients for antenatal testing, referrals for suspected anomalies, serial cervical lengths and gyn Onc referrals for adnexal masses and suspected ectopic. We are spacing out serial growth ultrasounds.

Thanks for posting and sharing.  Has anyone modified their image capture process for anatomic scans?  Our current standard is mostly still images of each item on the AIUM Level 2 or OB complete.  I believe Dr Benacerraf proposed clip stores at one time, which could greatly shorten the exam, and reduce sonographer to patient contact time.
