In your respective institutions, do you administer prophylactic anticoagulation to COVID positive pregnant/postpartum patients due to concerns of microembolism & DIC?

Yes, we are administering thromboprophylaxis to our pregnant women with COVID pneumonia who require admission. Full anticoagulation dose is given to patients with severe respiratory complications requiring support, since microemboli have been implicated in pulmonary dysfunction in these cases and large emboli have been described in cases with advanced disease.

Appreciate your response!  Here in NY, the protocols vary. Some centers automatically administer thromboprophylaxis on admission if COVID positive, while some centers start thromboprophylaxis only on COVID positive patients with severe respiratory symptoms.
