Common question I am being asked is the possibility and potential consequences of transplacental passage.
1. My thoughts are that the mRNA is short lived, and the amount of particles injected is low. Even if transferred, the exposure would be low risk.
2. Theoretical it is possible. We know that some lipid nanoparticles carrying siRNA have been found in cord blood. I imagine this is a dose and duration effect. Similar to viral load.
Any thoughts on this? I tried to find literature on the estimated number of particles in an immunization, but could not find it. It is a 30 ug dose.
Thanks in advance for any information or thoughts.
