COVID-19 Updates

  • 1.  Second trimester fetal growth restriction related to Covid infection

Has anyone seen the above? Have a case with normal NT at 12 weeks, low risk patient, moderate case of covid at about 15-16 w (unvaccinated) at 19 weeks severe symmetric growth restriction with echogenic bowel and globular placenta and relative oligohydramnios. Fetus otherwise normal lanatomy All the usual suspects negative. Normal Dopplers, TORCH neg. NIPT normal, amnio pends for karyotype/microarray. At amnio dark fluid but not typical blood appearance, almost looked like meconium.

Amnio may explain with triploidy or something but the covid is a bit of a red herring. While waiting on amnio results thought I would reach out. Whatever is going on seems placentally mediated and I know there have been cases of Covid placentitis.

    Thanks.

One of my partners had a very similar case in the setting or recent COVID infection. The FGR spontaneously resolved and patient ultimately made it to term.
