Bio

My research interests include first trimester screening in Panama, fetal anomalies ultrasound diagnosis, perinatal infections, including congenital zika syndrome. I am interested in maternal fetal global health and the use of mhealth technologies to improve outcomes in settings with limited resources. I have conducted these research interests as adjunct faculty of INDICASAT AIP (an interdisciplinary research institute), as member of Sistema Nacional de Investigación de Panama (SNI) (SENACAYT) where I worked with my former mentor Dr. Gabrielle Britton from the Neuroscience Center at the same institution. Currently I am appointed Director of Clinical Research at Punta Pacifica Hospital in Panama City from where we are collaborating with Dr. Amador Goodridge from the Center for Molecular Biology at INDICASAT AIP with a recent published systematic review and meta-analysis regarding congenital zika syndrome. We are in the final stage of developing a mobile health education platform to improve breastfeeding rates in Panama. Next steps include not only to improve in general diagnosis with imaging in obstetrics and gynecology but also to learn and teach the advanced methods in systematic reviews in Panama and Latin America.
