Question for those managing groups with inpatient (L&D) coverage needs-how do you incentivize night call?
Have heard of a couple of models including annual stipend, requiring for bonus eligibility, and paying per shift, but would love to know more!
For those that pay per shift or per year, can you share rates?
    thanks!

    Hi Chloe,
For my group, the expectation is that night coverage (by phone, and also in-house if necessary for MFM patients or issues) is shared equally by all the MFMs, with no additional stipend. When the MFM covers the general OB/GYN service, the rate is $1200-$1500 per 12 hour shift, though I have heard of a higher compensation too ($2000-$2500), specially on weekends and Holidays.

Call is rotated equally between all physicians and for years it was included in their salary. That changed several years ago when a new corporation acquired us. The base salary was reduced and physicians are now paid $1000/day for call.  We are a consultative practice.
